Functionally, this protein is reported to be a protein-histidine n-methyltransferase that specifically mediates 3-methylhistidine (tele-methylhistidine) methylation of actin at 'His-73'. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 594 residues, a mass of 67.3 kDa, and is a member of the SETD3 actin-histidine methyltransferase protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm. As many as 3 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally ubiquitinated and phosphorylated. Other alias names for this target include SET domain-containing protein 3, histone-lysine N-methyltransferase setd3, protein-L-histidine N-tele-methyltransferase, and actin-histidine N-methyltransferase.
