OSTC ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein oligosaccharyltransferase complex non-catalytic subunit, which is encoded by the OSTC gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is reported to be a specific component of the STT3A-containing form of the oligosaccharyl transferase (OST) complex that catalyzes the initial transfer of a defined glycan (Glc(3)Man(9)GlcNAc(2) in eukaryotes) from the lipid carrier dolichol-pyrophosphate to an asparagine residue within an Asn-X-Ser/Thr consensus motif in nascent polypeptide chains, the first step in protein N-glycosylation. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 149 residues, a mass of 16.8 kDa, and is a member of the OSTC protein family. It is known to be localized in the ER. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported.
