Anti-RCE1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein Ras converting CAAX endopeptidase 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 329 amino acid residues and a mass of 35.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. It is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. A member of the Peptidase U48 protein family, RCE1 is known to be involved with MAPK cascade signaling pathways. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination. Synonyms for this target antigen include RCE1A, RCE1B, CAAX prenyl protease 2, RCE1 homolog, prenyl protein peptidase, farnesylated protein-converting enzyme 2, and FACE2. RCE1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species. Some RCE1 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
