Anti-PIT antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PIT is a known alias name of the protein interferon regulatory factor 6, encoded by the IRF6 gene in humans. This 467-amino acid residue protein is a suspected DNA-binding transcriptional activator. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell and features ubiquitinated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in normal mammary epithelial cells. Western Blot is the most common application for the PIT antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
