Anti-20-ALPHA-HSD antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target 20-ALPHA-HSD is a known alias name of the protein aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C1, encoded by the AKR1C1 gene in humans. This 323-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in cholesterol metabolism and homeostasis and epithelial cell differentiation, among other biological processes. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in all tissues tested including liver, prostate, testis, adrenal gland, brain, uterus, mammary gland and keratinocytes. Other synonyms for 20-ALPHA-HSD include 2-ALPHA-HSD and C9. Western Blot is the most common application for the 20-ALPHA-HSD antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
