Anti-SLAP antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SLAP antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SLMAP gene, which encodes sarcolemma associated protein. This protein is known to function in protein localization to the plasma membrane, among other biological roles. The human version of SLAP has a canonical amino acid length of 828 residues and a protein mass of 95.2 kilodaltons, although 8 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the heart muscle and seminal vesicle. SLAP is a member of the SLMAP protein family.
