Anti-T2R38 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target T2R38 is a known alias name of the protein taste 2 receptor member 38, encoded by the TAS2R38 gene in humans. This 333-amino acid residue protein is a known receptor that may play a role in the perception of bitterness and is gustducin-linked. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue and exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. The term PTC is another synonym for T2R38.
