Anti-PADI6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein peptidyl arginine deiminase 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 694 amino acid residues and a mass of 77.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus, cytoplasmic vesicles, and cytoplasm. It is reported to be highly expressed in oocytes and weakly expressed in other somatic tissues. A member of the Protein arginine deiminase protein family, PADI6 is known to catalyze the deimination of arginine residues of proteins (By similarity). Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. The PADI6 gene has been associated with the disease, Preimplantation embryonic lethality. Synonyms for this target antigen include peptidyl arginine deiminase, type VI, peptidyl arginine deiminase-like protein, peptidylarginine deiminase type 6, and protein-arginine deiminase type-6. PADI6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. These PADI6 antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
