Anti-AGC1 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the AGC1 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ACAN gene, which encodes aggrecan. This protein is known to function in cell adhesion and glial cell differentiation, among other biological roles. The human version of AGC1 has a canonical amino acid length of 2530 residues and a protein mass of 261.3 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the extracellular matrix and is secreted of cells and notably expressed in the cartilage and soft tissue. AGC1 is a member of the Aggrecan/versican proteoglycan protein family.
