Anti-MRPS18A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein mitochondrial ribosomal protein S18A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 196 amino acid residues and a mass of 22.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Bacterial ribosomal protein bS18 protein family, MRPS18A is known to be involved with mitochondrial translation and protein translation. Synonyms for this target antigen include MRP-S18-3, MRPS18-3, S18bmt, S18mt-a, 39S ribosomal protein S18a, mitochondrial, and HumanS18b. MRPS18A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some MRPS18A antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. ELISA is a widely used application for these antibodies. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
