Anti-codA antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target codA is a known alias name of the protein matrix metallopeptidase 19, encoded by the MMP19 gene in humans. This 508-amino acid residue protein is a reported endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as aggrecan and cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (comp), during development, haemostasis and pathological conditions (arthritic disease). It is localized to the extracellular matrix and is secreted of the cell and features glycosylated, cleaved and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in mammary gland, placenta, lung, pancreas, ovary, small intestine, spleen, thymus, prostate, testis colon, heart and blood vessel walls.
