Anti-UACA antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein uveal autoantigen with coiled-coil domains and ankyrin repeats. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1416 amino acid residues and a mass of 162.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in skeletal muscle, heart, kidney and pancreas. UACA is reported to regulate APAF1 expression and plays an important role in the regulation of stress-induced apoptosis. Synonyms for this target antigen include NUCLING and nuclear membrane binding protein. UACA gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of UACA antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
