Anti-EFCAB6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein EF-hand calcium binding domain 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1501 amino acid residues and a mass of 172.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 6 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the testis. EFCAB6 is reported to negatively regulate the androgen receptor by recruiting histone deacetylase complex, and protein DJ-1 antagonizes this inhibition by abrogation of this complex. Synonyms for this target antigen include CAP-binding protein complex-interacting protein 1, DJ-1-binding protein, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, and EF-hand calcium-binding domain-containing protein 6. EFCAB6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry, and Immunofluorescence are common applications for EFCAB6 antibodies.
