Anti-POC5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein POC5 centriolar protein. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 575 amino acid residues and a mass of 63.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the POC5 protein family, POC5 is known to be important for the assembly of the distal half of centrioles, required for centriole elongation. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include POC5 centriolar protein homolog, hPOC5, protein of centriole 5, proteome of centriole 5, and centrosomal protein POC5. POC5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of POC5 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
