Anti-dynein axonemal intermediate chain 4 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DNAI4 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 848 amino acid residues and a mass of 94.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. It is known to play an important role in the assembly of axonemal dynein complex, thereby playing a role in ciliary motility. Other names for this target antigen include WD repeat-containing protein 78, dynein intermediate chain 4, axonemal, and WD repeat domain 78. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
