Anti-AGBL carboxypeptidase 3 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the AGBL3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1001 amino acid residues and a mass of 116 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 4 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Peptidase M14 protein family, it is a reported metallocarboxypeptidase that mediates deglutamylation of tubulin and non-tubulin target proteins. Other names for this target antigen include ATP/GTP binding protein like 3, protein deglutamylase CCP3, and cytosolic carboxypeptidase 3. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
