Anti-actin related protein 8 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ACTR8 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 624 amino acid residues and a mass of 70.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and chromosomes. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Actin protein family, it is known to play an important role in the functional organization of mitotic chromosomes. Other names for this target antigen include ARP8 actin related protein 8 homolog and INO80 complex subunit N. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
