Anti-DYNC2I2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein dynein 2 intermediate chain 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 536 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is reported to be expressed in several cell lines. A member of the Dynein light intermediate chain protein family, DYNC2I2 is known to act as one of several non-catalytic accessory components of the cytoplasmic dynein 2 complex (dynein-2 complex), a motor protein complex that drives the movement of cargos along microtubules within cilia and flagella in concert with the intraflagellar transport (IFT) system. The DYNC2I2 gene has been associated with the disease, Short-rib thoracic dysplasia 11 with or without polydactyly. Synonyms for this target antigen include WD repeat domain 34, WD repeat-containing protein 34, and cytoplasmic dynein 2 intermediate chain 2. DYNC2I2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
