Anti-glial cells missing transcription factor 2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the GCM2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 506 amino acid residues and a mass of 56.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is reported to be a transcription factor that binds specific sequences on gene promoters and activate their transcription. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Hypoparathyroidism. Other names for this target antigen include GCMB, HRPT4, hGCMb, chorion-specific transcription factor GCMb, GCM motif protein 2, and FIH2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
