Anti-intraflagellar transport associated protein antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the IFTAP gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 221 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.4 kDa. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is believed to play a role in ciliary BBSome localization, maybe through interaction with IFT-A complex. Other names for this target antigen include protein C11orf74 and uncharacterized protein C11orf74. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
