Anti-actin related protein 6 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ACTR6 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 396 amino acid residues and a mass of 45.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Actin protein family, it is known to be required for formation and/or maintenance of proper nucleolar structure and function. Other names for this target antigen include ARP6 actin related protein 6 homolog. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
