Anti-myosin binding protein C3 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the MYBPC3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1274 amino acid residues and a mass of 140.8 kDa. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the MyBP protein family, it is known to be involved with cell adhesion. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination and phosphorylation. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Cardiomyopathy. Other names for this target antigen include CMH4, FHC, LVNC10, MYBP-C, cMyBP-C, and CMD1MM. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
