Anti-caiD antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target caiD is a known alias name of the protein shugoshin 1, encoded by the SGO1 gene in humans. This 561-amino acid residue protein is known to play an important role in chromosome cohesion during mitosis by preventing premature dissociation of cohesin complex from centromeres after prophase, when most of cohesin complex dissociates from chromosomes arms. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell and features ubiquitinated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is widely expressed across many tissue types.
