Anti-AQP6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein aquaporin 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 282 amino acid residues and a mass of 29.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles. It is notably expressed in the kidney. It is a member of the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) protein family. The AQP6 marker can be used to identify Type A Connecting Tubule Intercalated Cells and Type A Collecting Duct Intercalated Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include KID, aquaporin 2-like, kidney specific, aquaporin-6, kidney specific, hKID, kidney-specific aquaporin, and AQP2L. AQP6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. A number of AQP6 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
