Anti-Maspin antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the Maspin antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SERPINB5 gene, which encodes serpin family B member 5. This protein is known to function in extracellular matrix organization, among other biological roles. The human version of Maspin has a canonical amino acid length of 375 residues and a protein mass of 42.1 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be a secreted protein that is notably expressed in the urinary bladder, tonsil, skin, esophagus, and cervix. Other names for this target antigen include PI5 and PI-5. Western Blot is the most common application for the Maspin antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
