Anti-lysozyme like 6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the LYZL6 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 148 amino acid residues and a mass of 17 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. It is reported to be expressed in testis, epididymis and spermatozoa. A member of the Glycosyl hydrolase 22 protein family, it is suspected to be involved sperm-egg plasma membrane adhesion and fusion during fertilization. Other names for this target antigen include epididymis secretory sperm binding protein Li 6a, lysozyme B, lysozyme homolog, and lysozyme-like protein 6.
