Anti-MMP11 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein matrix metallopeptidase 11. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 488 amino acid residues and a mass of 54.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is also secreted. It is notably expressed in stromal cells of breast carcinomas. A member of a the Peptidase M10A protein family, MMP11 is believed to play an important role in the progression of epithelial malignancies. Post-translational modifications have been described, including protein cleavage. Synonyms for this target antigen include ST3, STMY3, stromelysin-3, matrix metallopeptidase 11 (stromelysin 3), stromelysin III, and SL-3.
