Anti-VANGL1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein VANGL planar cell polarity protein 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 524 amino acid residues and a mass of 60 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. It is a member of the Vang protein family. The VANGL1 gene has been associated with the disease, Neural tube defects. Synonyms for this target antigen include KAI1 C-terminal interacting tetraspanin, loop-tail protein 2 homolog, strabismus 2, van Gogh-like protein 1, vang-like 1 (van gogh, Drosophila), and vang-like protein 1. VANGL1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of VANGL1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
