Anti-GPIV antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the GPIV antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the GP6 gene, which encodes glycoprotein VI platelet. This protein is known to be a collagen receptor involved in collagen-induced platelet adhesion and activation. The human version of GPIV has a canonical amino acid length of 339 residues and a protein mass of 36.9 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the bone marrow and testis.
