Anti-LTC4S antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein leukotriene C4 synthase. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 150 amino acid residues and a mass of 16.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and ER. It is notably expressed in the lung, platelets and the myelogenous leukemia cell line KG-1. A member of a the MAPEG protein family, LTC4S is known to catalyze the conjugation of leukotriene A4 with reduced glutathione (GSH) to form leukotriene C4 with high specificity. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include LTC4 synthase and glutathione S-transferase LTC4.
