Anti-SLBP antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein stem-loop binding protein. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 270 amino acid residues and a mass of 31.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the SLBP protein family, SLBP is a reported RNA-binding protein involved in the histone pre-mRNA processing. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination and phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include histone RNA hairpin-binding protein, hairpin binding protein, histone, histone binding protein, histone stem-loop binding protein, stem-loop (histone) binding protein, and HBP. SLBP gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species.
