We tested this kit in exosomes, both in total exosomes and immunopurified (according to neuronal source). The kit performed well, and the standards were clear/easily read. The samples, however, weren't detected using 1:1 dilution, so an optimization is required for this type of sample to fix this issue. Even some pure plasma samples were not detected, which reinforces the idea that dilution is not required for this type of application/sample.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

ELISA (protein concentration)

Starting Material

Exosomes (isolated from human plasma)

Tips

Perhaps, to use undiluted samples.

Results Summary

This product might help us to understand if the concentration of some cytokines in exosomes are different between healthy subjects and some patients (suffering from neurodegeneration). However, the first attempt to use this kit for that purpose shown that the kit seems to be consistent (regarding the perfect standard line/gradient) but, our samples weren't detected (maybe because of the dilution used, which might not be recommended for this type of sample in this kit).

Summary

The Good

Kit is very sensitive and easy to use.

The Bad

Does not have stop solution (you need to make it your own).

The Bottom Line

The kit is cheap, easy to use, seems to be consistent, and also very sensitive. However, does not provide stop solution required in the last part of the experiment (you need to make your own) and unfortunately did not detected our sample (which seems to be related to the sample-dilution itself).
