Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Human Vitamin D levels in dried blood spots

Starting Material

Dried Blood Spots

Tips

The standard makes a good diluent for samples, PBS works decently well.

Results Summary

The standard curve was repetitively accurate and precise, leading to less patient values falling out of range. The low end and high-end patient values often fell out of range. We found that using the 0 standard to dilute patient samples greatly helps for the high-end OWR samples.

Summary

The Good

The standard curve is nicely spread, without huge gaps between points. Easy to follow protocol with repeatable results.

The Bad

Sample values that fall on the high or low-end of the curve fall out of range easily.

The Bottom Line

This is a good product that offers an easy-to-follow protocol that is user friendly. It can be applied to quantifying dried blood spot levels and not just whole blood or serum. Standard 0 works the best for diluting patient samples or the standards.
