This pipette comes with a variety of modes, which can make the pipetting process faster and more accurate. They are helpful if you do assays that require successive pipetting or if you have a lot of wells to add liquid to. I do a lot of qPCR assays in 384-well plates, so they help a lot to minimize pipetting errors. The modes I use the most are dispensing in which you can dispense a programmed volume several times without having to go back to the tube and get more liquid each time you pipette and Pipette+Mix, which is very useful for serial dilutions. You are also able to control the aspiration and dispensing speed, a convenient feature for careful pipetting to avoid bubbles.

Summary

The Good

Minimizes pipetting errors and convenient for serial dilutions.

The Bad

It can be on the pricey side.

The Bottom Line

Although it is an expensive tool, I think this is a great investment for your lab, especially if you work with molecular biology and perform assays such as qPCR.
