I use these gels in my research to a great extent because of the short running time, and because they are readily available (you can cut down the time of casting as you can stock them at 4 °C due to their longer shelf life). I am studying a bacteria cell division protein and I wanted to see my WT version and its derivative tagged to another protein in the cell lysates. After running the gels, you can visualize proteins in the ChemiDoc imaging system. I see the separation of ~19 kDa within 30 min. These gels save time in the staining step and do not require an external staining reagent like Coomassie brilliant blue.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Rapid separation and instant fluorescent detection of proteins.

Starting Material

Cell lysates

Tips

To avoid breaking the gels, handle them with care by adding water on the gel and make sure your fingers are wet before handling them.

Results Summary
