I work with infectious bacteria and the goal of this research is to determine the levels of chemokine secretion during in vitro infection. This ELISA kit was great for me, especially since I had never run an ELISA before. In that sense, it is great for beginners to receive reliable data without very many moving parts and to gain confidence in this specific technique. I would recommend any of R&D ELISA kits for reliable results.

Tips

Not ideal for samples with a protein-of-interest concentration that is higher than 2000 pg/mL. You can always dilute your sample, but you wont know until you have run the assay at least once on the same sample.

Results Summary

This assay reliably detects MCP-1 secreted in cell culture supernate and allows for downstream analysis. I have used this kit multiple times and the results are always as expected.

The Good

Very fast, one-day ELISA assay for same day results!

The Bad

This kit is quite expensive; about $600 and it appears the price has recently gone up.

The Bottom Line

This assay came in very handy to screen protein candidates that may be responsible for chemokine secretion in our target cell line. From beginners to professional researchers, I would highly recommend this assay to anyone!
