Using organ-on-chip devices for in vitro experiments is a good option to see the cellular interactions and also to mimics as much as possible what happens in vivo. The only "problem" is since it is a small device, when you use a small amount of cells and cell media, you cannot run a regular western blot with the cell lysates that come from these devices. Jess is a good option for the protein analysis, since it only requires a small amount of protein to run the assay.

Summary

The Good

Use a small amount of protein to run the assay with more than one antibody.

The Bad

Requires a optimization for each one of the antibodies for each type of cell.

The Bottom Line

It is a great product for small amount of protein. After optimization, I needed only 0.2ug/ul of protein to run the assay, using a 1/50 primary antibody dilution. So far, I was able to optimize 3 antibodies running in the same capillary.
