I use this GAPDH Activity Assay Kit to measure the enzyme activity of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase in cell culture samples. GAPDH catalyzes the conversion of Glyceraldehyde-3-Phosphate (GAP) to 1, 3-Bisphosphate Glycerate (BPG) and plays a key role in glycolysis. During cellular mutation or drug treatment, the deregulation of GAPDH activity is observed. My result showed an alteration in GADPH activity in my cell of interest comparing to WT control.

Results Summary

Accurate quantitation of GAPDH activity is important for studying normal cellular physiology, in comparing WT and treated cells. Using this kit, I was able to study the change of glycolysis in treated cell lines, finding the abnormal cellular physiology as well as the respiratory chain. It gives a confident result.

The Good

Accurate GAPDH assay goes with western blot for protein level.

The Bad

Only 100 assays were provided in one kit, including 16 spaces for standards, and half of the spaces for controls. only ~40 samples can be tested.

The Bottom Line

This kit gives a very accurate GAPDH level in cell lines. The kit provides all the reagents needed and detailed protocol for first-time users. Great product.
