With mouse mammary and human cervical cancer specimens, we observed increase in apoptosis due to DNA strand breaks following treatment with investigatory drugs under fluorescent microscope.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Fluorescent Microscopy

Starting Material

Mouse breast tumor and human cervical cancer

Tips

Reagensts should be mixed well according to protocol and allowed to equilibrate prior to usage

Results Summary

Specimens showed increased indication of apoptosis following treatments with pathway inhibitors as analyzed by use of fluorescent microscopy on samples compared to untreated samples.

Summary

The Good

Very easy to use and convenient

The Bad

N/A

The Bottom Line

The kit should be used to analyze apoptosis following the classical method of DNA strand breaking. Microscopy enables very convenient analysis of samples compared to flow cytometry with the commonly used Annexin V/PI staining which usually requires disruption of the tissue and extraction of single cells.
