I have used the Eppendorf P10, P200 and P1000 adjustable volume pipettes. The P10 volume is adjustable from 0.5 uL to 10 uL and compatible with standard 0.5 – 10 uL tips; the P200 is adjustable from 20 uL to 200 uL and compatible with standard 200 uL tips; and finally, the P1000 is adjustable from 100 uL to 1000 uL and is compatible with standard 1000 uL tips. Each pipette possesses a colored push-button for easy identification: grey for the P10, yellow for the P200 and blue for the P1000. The volume setting displays 4 numbers, including 1 decimal for the P200 and 2 decimals for the P10. The lower part of the pipette is autoclavable.
I use these pipettes for basic molecular and cellular biology lab work, in both normal and sterile conditions. The 4-number volume setting gives high accuracy and confidence when pipetting. These ergonomics pipettes fit well in the hand and are easy to handle. The firmness of the tip fitting and tip ejection gives assurance when pipetting. Furthermore, volume setting and pipetting feel effortless. It is then simple to pipette up and down, eject the used tip, pick up a new tip and set up a new volume with a single hand while holding the pipette. Using these pipettes allows the operator to focus on the lab work instead of the pipette.
Finally, even though the lower part of these pipettes is autoclavable, Eppendorf pipettes are not as convenient as some other brands pipette to dismantle in order to clean or fix them.
