Company:

Southern Biotech

Product Name:

Fluoromount-G

Catalog Number:

0100-01

Fluoromount-G is used for mounting cells/tissues onto slides. This reagent has been used to mount human breast cancer cells in the past. While it is easy to use, it may not be the ideal reagent to use as loss of fluorescence may detected over time.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Immunocytochemistry (Immunofluorescence)

Starting Material

Human breast cancer cells

Tips

Use around 4 uL mounting reagent as excess may seep out of coverslip

Results Summary

B-catenin levels were detected in human breast cancer cells. While there was great staining following mounting of cells, loss of fluorescence was unfortunately detected over time.

Summary

The Good

Easy to use

The Bad

Loss of fluorescence over time

The Bottom Line

Other mounting reagents such as ProLong Gold Antifade (Invitrogen) may be better alternatives as samples can be stored at room temperature for a long time without concern of loss of fluorescence. Such alternatives are easy to use as well.
