Product Name:

Centogene Extan PMP22 Kit

Catalog Number:

Extan PMP22 Kit

We are a clinical diagnostic lab. We used the extan kit to test its validity for use in the lab for full gene sequencing. The alternative to such a kit would be designing, optimizing and validating primers in house.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Sanger sequencing of the PMP22 gene for mutation detection

Starting Material

DNA

Protocol Overview

PCR, PCR clean up, Sequencing,  PCR, Sequencing clean up, Sequence on 3730

Tips

Validated using a specific enzyme/kit and may require more optimization if you use something different

Results Summary

The kit was good, our results good. But we do not routinely use the reagents recommended by Centogene for this kit, and it needed optimization for it to work well with the reagents we have in house. It was not as simple as it appeared because more troubleshooting was needed.

Summary

The Good

Primers are validated and SNP free

The Bad

May need more troubleshooting if you don't have the recommended kits in house

The Bottom Line

It's a fine, validated set of primers.
