Product Name:

Ankyrin G Antibody (P-20)

Catalog Number:

sc-31778

I work with protein trafficking in neurons. The described antibody was used to mark the axon initial segment in rat hippocampal neurons. This marker was chosen because it makes early recognition of the axon possible.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Immunohistochemistry

Sample

Rat hippocampal neurons

Primary Incubation

1:50 in PBS with 1 mM MgCl2, 0.1 mM CaCl2 and 0.2% gelatine

Blocking Agent

0.2% gelatine in PBS with 1 mM MgCl2, 0.1 mM CaCl2

Secondary Incubation

Donkey anti-goat Alexa Fluor 647 1:1000 in PBS with 1 mM MgCl2, 0.1 mM CaCl2 and 0.2% gelatine

Tertiary Incubation

N/A

Detection

Zeiss 710 confocal microscope

Results Summary

Staining with this antibody enables detection of the axon initial segment, and it can therefore be used as a axonal marker in rat hippocampal neurons.
