The electronic coupling of the InjectMan NI 2 with the FemtoJet makes microinjection into adherent cells possible. This semiautomatic sequence of manipulation and injection occurs first by programming the injection parameters on the FemtoJet and then establishing the injection level (Z-limit) by pressing a button on the InjectMan NI 2.
By activating the joystick key, the patented axial injection movement of the capillary and the programmed pressure increase can be simultaneously triggered on the FemtoJet. Following the preset injection time, the pressure decreases in the capillary and is triggered simultaneously with the movement of the capillary back to its starting position. Thus, the capillary tip serves as a “pointer” for the target location in the cell, and the exact axial injection movement secures the highest survival rate.* With the help of this technology, it is now possible to process more than 40 cells per minute simply, efficiently and reproducibly.

Three Dimensional Joystick Controller The joystick controller allows control of the micromanipulator movements in the X, Y, and Z axes simultaneously. Speed of movement is regulated by the degree of displacement of the joystick from the center "null" position. The vertical (Z) drive is controlled by rotating the knob on the joystick. Manipulator movements are lag-free. The micrometers are graduated in 10 micron increments, movements of 2 or 3 microns can be controlled under visual guidance through a microscope.
Push Button Controller Single "steps" from .50 microns to 10 microns can be executed with the push button controller. The push button controller has 6 buttons, one each for forward and reverse in each of the 3 axes. A touch of the button triggers a step of the preset size. Production and design changes have allowed Sutter to produce a motorized manipulator that is a more affordable alternative to the industry standard MP-285. While the MP-225 feature set is less comprehensive than the MP-285, it includes the most popular features with a user interface that is simpler to use. The mechanical design utilizes a miniature stepper motor and integral anti-backlash gear head. Pre-loaded ball bearing slides provide smooth movement throughout the 25mm of travel. The controller uses low-noise, linear-drive output circuitry identical to that found in the MP-285.
