Fig 1: XTT assay showing the cell viability as a percentage of the standard medium (CNT). Compared to the CNT, 35 mM glucose (HG) led to a significant decrease of the cell viability. PG-901 (10-10M) increased cell survival in the ARPE-19 cells exposed to 35 mM glucose. Cell viability after the HG+MTII (MCR3/4 agonist, 0.30 nmol) and H2O2+ MTII; HG+BMS (MCR1 agonist, 10-5M) treatments. The results are reported as the mean ± S.E.M. The experiments were repeated three times to ensure the consistency of the results. P < 0.01 (*) versus CNT; P < 0.01 (°) versus HG.
