Endo H, also known as endoglycosidase H, is a recombinant glycosidase that deglycosylates glycoproteins containing mannose-rich oligosaccharides. Endo H cleaves between two N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) subunits, effectively separating the asparagine residue from the oligosaccharide. This leaves behind one GlcNAc residue attached to the asparagine. First isolated from Streptomyces species, Endo H has a molecular weight of around 29 kDa. Endo H can be used for deglycosylating mannose glycoproteins, but not complex glycans. It is also used to study post-translational modifications in the Golgi apparatus.
