Uracil DNA Glycosylases

Uracil DNA glycosylases (UDG) are DNA repair enzymes that catalyze the excision of uracil from DNA by cleaving N-glycosidic bonds. They also initiate the base excision repair (BER) pathway and are important in maintaining genome integrity. Uracil bases occur from misincorporation or spontaneous cytosine deamination. UDG is used in eliminating carryover contamination in real-time PCR (qPCR) reactions. It can be used for location-specific cleavage of DNA. Visit the supplier page for more product information, including details on enzyme activity and applications.
