Kinase Assay Kits

Kinase assay kits are available from a number of suppliers to measure the enzymatic activity of specific kinases in a biological sample. Phosphorylation by various kinases is important in many biological processes, including enzyme activation, regulation, metabolism, cell signaling, cell division, and more. Kinase assays generally incorporate the addition of specific kinase substrates into a reaction and measure the amount of products formed. Immunoassay-based kits utilize specific peptide sequences and corresponding antibodies that recognize the phosphorylated products. Colorimetric, fluorometric, and luminescent detection methods are available. Such assay kits can be useful in measuring the activity of pure and partially purified kinases, as well as in screening for kinase inhibitors.
