The Nikon AX / AX R confocal microscope systems set a new standard in confocal imaging
Confocal microscopes have been commercially available for over 25 years, but that hasn’t stopped the pace of innovation. The Nikon AX / AX R confocal system is our 10th generation point-scanning confocal and designed to give you more of everything - leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance usability and analysis capabilities, expanding detection options, increasing pixel density, sensitivity, speed, and more.
These improvements expand the range of experiments possible using a point-scanning instrument. The AX / AX R is also highly modular and upgradable, allowing it to be tailored towards changing needs.
Super-resolution Image Scanning Microscopy (ISM) is made possible by combining the AX / AX R with the Nikon Spatial Array Confocal (NSPARC) detector. The NSPARC detector provides single-photon level sensitivity, lower noise, and resolution improvement to approximately 100 nm (XY) and 300 nm (Z). NSPARC detection is compatible with resonant scanning on the AX R for fast and gentle super-resolution imaging of live samples and large volumes. Additionally, NIR detectors and compatible lasers are now available to integrate with the AX, which allows for deeper imaging with reduced light scattering and absorption. The AX R confocal system is also capable of multiphoton imaging, which extends its flexibility to live, deep imaging in an upright format.
