Anti-brPTB antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target brPTB is a known alias name of the protein polypyrimidine tract binding protein 2, encoded by the PTBP2 gene in humans. This 531-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a RNA-binding protein, which binds to intronic polypyrimidine tracts and mediates negative regulation of exons splicing. It is localized to the nucleus of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be mainly expressed in the brain although also detected in other tissues like heart and skeletal muscle.
